Charlottesville, Va. -- VibeAgent, a Charlottesville-based hotel search engine developed by a pair of former MBAs from the University of Virginia, said on Tuesday that it has secured $3 million in its first round of funding. Investors included several unnamed executives in the software, travel and private equity industries. The round follows last year's angel round from Trip Davis, the CEO of travel data processing company TRX. VibeAgent was co-founded in 2006 by Adam Healey (CEO), the founder and former CEO of Samba Digital Media, and Charles Seilheimer (president and CFO), a former investment banker at JPMorgan. Their site, which debuted one year ago, searches more than 30 web sites to consolidate the rates, availability and details of over 140,000 hotels. It also allows registered users to post hotel reviews and share them with networks of friends and colleagues.
