Reston, Va. -- Reston-based Avail Media, an aggregator of content for IP video, and California-based TVN Entertainment Corp., the large video-on-demand company, announced on Monday that they are merging. The original venture backers of Avail -- Columbia Capital, Novak Biddle Venture Partners, Valhalla Partners and Pioneer Ventures -- all invested in the financing for the merger along with a new strategic investor, the Reston-based National Rural Telecommunications Coop (NRTC). Terms were not disclosed. “We are moving quickly to an environment in which consumers can access any type of program -- movies, TV shows, sports, news -- on any device at any time,” said Phil Herget of Columbia Capital. “The combination of TVN and Avail provides the end-to-end solution to enable our customers to meet these evolving consumer demands.”
