Washington, DC -- Nicor Global, a year-old DC-based developer of cyber security software and services, said on Wednesday that it has raised $1 million in new funding from The Musser Group and Galaxy Technology. The start-up plans to use the capital to build a business that will defend government and corporate networks from "hacking, theft and espionage." "These threats range from foreign nation-sponsored cyber espionage and security breaches, to the shutting down of critical infrastructure grids and corporate networks," said CTO Charles Dodd. "Cyber warfare is quickly becoming the weapon of choice for both terrorist groups as well as nation states." Nicor's services are designed to assess networks for vulnerabilities, implement corrective actions and train employees. The company was founded by Dodd, also founder of the National Information Security Research and Defense Institute (NISRAD) and former CEO at CISSR Technologies, and Rick Yost, who spent 15 years managing Army, Navy and Marine Corps IT projects with Viecore FSD and BearingPoint.
