Board of Advisors

Photo4-185.jpgAmplifier has a Board of Advisors that is comprised of experienced entrepreneurs, investors and representatives of strategically allied venture capital funds and other organizations and institutions, with a bias towards selecting serial entrepreneurs and business leaders. The Board of Advisors advises Amplifier on the development of many aspects of our investment strategies, policies and practices.

The members of the Board of Advisors are:  

Mitch Mumma, Partner of Intersouth Partners, a venture firm with a broad technology focus that is currently investing in excess of $200 million in the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast.  Mitch is primarily responsible for Intersouth’s information technology portfolio.  He has previously served as CEO of an Intersouth portfolio company, as well as part of the management of other high growth technology businesses.  He is an Adjunct Professor at the UNC Kenan-Flager School of Business and has long held leadership roles in the Council for Entrepreneurial Development and North Carolina Technology Association  Mitch has a MS from Duke University.

Jonathan Ebinger, Partner of BlueRun Ventures (formerly, Nokia Venture Partners), an independent venture firm with a strong focus on communications technologies that is currently investing in excess of $600 million in the Mid-Atlantic and other technology markets worldwide. Jonathan has significant marketing and finance experience with companies such as MCI, Qwest Communications and Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions. He holds a BS in Finance from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

Brian Hayhurst, Managing Director of Carlyle Group, an international private equity and venture capital firm. Brian's primary focus on U.S. venture and growth capital investments in software, network infrastructure and services.  Previously, he served for nine years in the corporate audit and merger & acquisitions services group at Deloitte & Touche. Brian was honored with the 2005 Financier of the Year award by The Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC Technology Councils. He is an honors graduate of Rhodes College.


From time to time Amplifier may designate and appoint additional members to the Board of Advisors with a bias towards individuals who are community leaders or representatives of strategic allies of the Fund.
